Wednesday Wink 018

Wednesday Wink 018

Did you miss these? I am back with a Valentine's Day wink inspired by a guest on one of my favorite blog's Enjoying the Small Things. I always struggle with finding the perfect toddler appropriate classroom gifts for all of Liam's friends. Last year we made our very own Love Song Remix CD which I think was a hit. This year we made heart shaped crayons and I was thrilled with the results!
To make your very own, you will need an assortment of paper-peeled crayons. The best is to use those that you have laying around that were broken or worn down, but we are 2 so I sprung for a brand new box!
You will also need a heart shaped mold, which I found in the dollar bins at Target for $2.50. These mid-sized silicon ones work the very best! Place the equivalent of about 3 full sized crayons into each mold. My favorites were those that we used of a similar color family. This will provide 3 different colors in one in your final product! Bake in a 300 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until the crayons have fully melted. Then let them cool until hardened. usually about an hour.
This was the perfect amount of time to put Liam down for a nap. When he woke up, we pulled out heart creations out of their molds. They turned out so much better than I could have expected! I bought clear bags to put each crayon in (also from Target) and then used the freebie label offered here from Crystal and Company to complete our treats!
Happy Valentine's Day!
