He has the biggest heart and will get down on the ground and play and pretend and wrestle with Liam like a kid himself. Somedays I just sit back and listen to the sound of their laughter and it fills my heart with joy. Our daddy will even do arts and crafts, which if you know our daddy... that may not have been his calling. Liam thinks he is the greatest artist. Liam wants to do everything that his daddy does and follows him wherever he goes. He is his hero. They make coffee together and watch sports on the sofa. How this started at age 2 I will never know... I guess he is his father's son! Bill has the greatest patience with him. Almost never raising his voice. I am in awe of that. I think one of my favorite daddy qualities is that Bill wants to spend all his time with Liam. If there is a golf game or event on TV... he will gladly put it all on hold just to throw a ball with our son. And we are totally a partnership. Bill drops off and I pick up from school. We share sick days and making meals. He is instilling values into our son that I am so appreciative of. The bond between these two is incredible and as the mommy... my cup runneth over. God blessed us with the best of the best and this is only just the beginning for these best friends...<br />

This year we spent Father's Day just together. We had a wonderful brunch at Babba Yegas complete with mimosas. We may have ruined his surprise gift with the sneak peek of my photography sessions... but he didn't mind! We are preparing for several big weekends in a row, but having a low key weekend was just what our daddy ordered. Happy Father's Day Bill.. We love you to the moon and back.<br />

We took Liam to his very first theatre movie, Madagascar 3, with one of his best buds Noah. I highly recommend seeing toddler movies around dinner time at the Studio Movie Grill as they can snack on buttery popcorn and chicken nuggets or pizza. The best part, however is that you can reserve your seats for a $1 extra which takes the hastle out of standing in line and finding seats together. Plus, let's face it... patience is not a toddler's strong suit. wink! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I wasn't really sure what to expect as this was Liam's first time to have to sit still for a long period of time (without being strapped into the carseat). He did wonderful. We had a few loud commentaries and I am pretty sure the people behind us loved it when Liam stood in his chair to wave to them in the middle of the zebra acrobatics. He also may or may not have climbed under the chair a few times to retrieve the stuffed Marty... but overall I would call this a complete success. (The clean-up crew may a few other choice words). The boys truly had such a fun time and their giggles to each other made it all worth it.<br />

And to be honest.. the movie was hilarious! We always have a blast with the Kerr family. Friends that have known you the longest! Friends that even if you haven't seen them in a while, you pick up right where you left off. One of our dearest and oldest friends, Elliott came to visit us in Houston a few weeks back and it was so much fun catching up! I will have to admit that this visit might have been a tad different than past visits... We traded bars and nightlife dinners for carousel rides, dinner on the green and lunch with the giraffes. <br />

Liam instantly took to E and by the end of the trip was asking to hold his hand. It may have not been exactly how E had envisioned his visit, but I know one very happy little boy who sure had a wonderful time. Our visits are always too short... we miss you already dear friend!</div>

Liam was ill with a nasty 7 day fever virus that turned into pneumonia that caused a hive break-out. Gotta love daycare! The day that we sent him back to school with a clean bill of health, we got a letter home stating that there had been a confirmed case of chicken pox. Little did I know, that just because you were vaccinated, doesn't mean that your child will not get the chicken pox. It is more of an 80/20 kind of thing and it just means that if they do get it, then it will be less severe. That would have been good to know. All that being said, we were going stir crazy! I was so excited about our Galveston trip.<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
My only request for Mother's Day was that we take family photographs with one of my favorite photographer's Shalonda of Chubby Cheek Photography. Being a photographer, you are pretty much behind the camera 90% of the time and while I love being behind the camera, I also love photographs of my amazing family. When it comes to capturing the joy and the love and the moments of our family... I put all my trust in Shalonda because she manages to bottle our memories every time. She continues to amaze me with her artistry. We happened to be one of the lucky few to snag one of her <a href="http://www.chubbycheekphotography.com/blog/?p=4843">saltwater sessions for 2012</a> and it fell on Mother's Day weekend which was even more perfect.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Like I said... Bill planned the perfect weekend. He researched the area and decided on a stay at Moody Gardens. There was a sparkling pool, swim-up bar, and a bounce house right at our back door. We popped Liam in the stroller and literally walked across the street to the aquarium and rain forest exhibit. We are huge fans of the movie "Happy Feet" and so the penguins were a hit! They really did an awesome job on the details in that movie. The penguins were second only to the sea lion exhibit. There was a new baby that took quite the interest in Liam. Liam would run from one end of the glass wall to the other and the baby seal would follow and mimic him. It was so much fun to watch and gathered a pretty big crowd. We ended the evening on the beach and a fun dinner at Fish Tales.</div>

<a name='more'></a><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
The next day, Bill setup breakfast in the hotel and then we were off to Palm Beach after a quick Galvestonian detour. The toddler splash pad in the park area was almost exclusively ours. It was off to one side and we had the entire area to ourselves. To play, to splash and to eat lunch. We dipped into the wave pool, white sand and topped off the afternoon with a few slides before heading home. It was 45 minutes to the perfect Mother's Day getaway. I still feel as though I need to be pinched when it comes to being Liam's mommy. I cannot believe it. That I was chosen. He is such an incredible little boy and I hope that he sees me the way that I see my mom. Thank you to my amazing husband for making such an effort to create the perfect Mother's Day and for giving the best gift of all.</div>

I am sure that you are wondering why all my recent posts have been in collage format... The truth of the matter is that I do not have to edit my photographs when they are small and with very little time on my hands these days... This is so much easier! Plus, scrolling for thirty minutes through large photos can get boring... </div>Kate Robinsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05336255209399325322noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4738156553319041710.post-57852222033073682012-06-05T16:04:00.000-05:002012-06-05T16:04:03.361-05:00Chicken Coop<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
If you were to look up cool in the dictionary, you might just find a photo of the Robbins family. And adding to their cool factor? Greg built his very own chicken coop... wait for it... so that they could raise their very own chickens and have fresh eggs. Cruella is pure deville with her peppered crown of feathers and Chick Chick still rules the yard! They even let Liam name one and he chose something to the tune of "pick-pocket" only for him to change it to "rocket" later. I totally forgot about these photographs and they still crack me up. It took all 4 men to carry the coop across the yard. I also love the working man's high five and the cousin drivers... aren't they just too cute?</div>

I was clearing files and ran across these cuties! I most likely forgot about them because there was a photographer on site and well, I just didn't take that many photographs since she seemed to have it all covered. But how in the world could I miss a blog post about these adorable little cowboys? They are seriously some handsome twins and I just love their mommy! It was a great afternoon for a celebration! The party decor was straight out of a magazine. Every single detail was done to perfection. From the snacks to the cake to the favors of cowboy cookies and hats... It is hard to believe that they are already one. Happy Birthday Charlie and Max!</div>

I used my little man as a stand-in for all three location shoots. The first two he was down right NOT having it! And on the second to last shoot not only did he pick a bluebonnet and laugh about it... he totally would not stop for even a second to take a family photo since Mea and Pop were there. We managed to get one... and if that is all we got, I am grateful! He was saving up for round three...because I finally got to capture my handsome man amongst the Texas Blue and on that day... he took my breath away. Enjoy!<br />

The weekend we celebrated, it also happened to be my brother's moving day so my family was in town as well. I cannot tell you the last time we were all in the same place at the same time... I am almost certain it is Liam's birthdays. One wonderful thing about knowing your husband since you were six, and living in a small town, chances are your parents are good friends as well. Our dads are totally best buds and two of the best golfers I know! And it is no surprise that when margaritas, old friends, and Mexican hats are involved... there is bound to be entertainment for all!</div>

I also managed to capture a few of the moving festivities! I was so sad to see my brother move further away, but so excited for his new adventures. I am so very proud of my baby brother! Whose successes continue to amaze me... He has achieved so much in such a short time. He is one awesome young man!</div>

This little lady in curls with melt your heart! And her mommy is one of the most beautiful people inside and out. We miss our little stars class so so much and there is nothing quite like the bond these children have with one another. Our precious, precious babies are 2!! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jNVJCak2TH8/T7pjjzBoifI/AAAAAAAAGM4/LRiMGVSvOsE/s1600/harperbirthday2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="496" kba="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jNVJCak2TH8/T7pjjzBoifI/AAAAAAAAGM4/LRiMGVSvOsE/s640/harperbirthday2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<a name='more'></a>By her request, the guests all wore orange which made everything color coordinated! And if you have never had the pleasure of attending one of Harper's birthdays<a href="http://kathrynscamera.blogspot.com/2011/05/all-around-mulberry-bush.html">(like the one at the end of this post)...</a> let me just tell you that mommy pulls out all the stops. Snow cones, Bubble Station, sticker station, fishing for prizes in mini pools, candy bar, cake pops and cupcakes, bounce house, colors and crafts, take home gumball machines... all amongst the playground! We totally had a golden ticket to Wonka's World... I thought one of the most adorable touches was the Guest Sign-In. There was a large gumball machine drawn on a piece of paper and each guest picked an ink pad and stamped their finger for a gumball. What a great way to remember the birthday. </div>

Liam had an absolute blast at the bubble station. We tried and tried to get him interested in another activity, but always back to the bubbles.. even a snowcone wouldn't take him away! We did manage to have him fish in the pond... but only because his best buddy Jack was! </div>

Pretty soon we are going to have an entire football team! wink... Oh Ashley... I am so excited for you! It seems like yesterday we were welcoming Noah into the world. That perfect little boy with a head full of gorgeous, dark brown hair. I remember getting the call and running out into the yard screaming at Bill as he was mowing that baby Kerr was here! I am pretty sure I scared him to death! It is incredible how much our lives have been changed in just 3 years and in just a few short weeks you are going to have a family of 4! I cannot wait to meet him.<br />
<br />
When it comes to party planning... it doesn't get much better than Aunt Colie (Nicole Smith Designs). For this very special Baby-Q, we started with our very own inspiration board to get the juices flowing. I love all of the special touches Nicole designed from water bottle labels, to placecards, to the Kerr glass jars. The color scheme was just beautiful and everything was perfectly set in Amelia's new home. I still have kitchen envy. We served baby burgers (sliders whose aroma filled the room), potato salad, and mini pecan pie bites from Alisa's kitchen that were to die for.<br />

Like over the moon happy for them. On May 6, we got together to "Pamper" Carin before her baby arrived. Ryne has since made his arrival and he is simply PERFECT. I will hopefully blog about him later...<br />

It was the best afternoon for relaxing and catching up with friends. We had an aqua and green theme and I think everything turned out really cute. I even tried my hand at my very first diaper cake! You may not need much when preparing for a second baby boy... but diapers is definately on the list. And of course a snazzy new delivery gown to replace those aweful hospital issued mumus. One of my favorite touches was the little spa giveaway to one of the guests instead of party favors. And Tina's cupcakes were sinful they were so good.</div>

I feel so abundantly blessed to have Carin in my life. To share in the same values and be there for encouragement through all of these trials as women from children to working moms to childcare to life. Do you think we talk too much if when the phone rings my son either says GiGi (my mom) or Miss Carin? Words cannot express how excited I am for her. She is an amazing mom.</div>

A couple of weeks back we celebrated Jackie's birthday dinner with the girls. While in college I never would have imagined that I would get to continue on my life journey with so many of my Aggie girlfriends. I love getting to share this part of my life with these girls. I love being a mom and sharing in that with Jackie who has the most adorable little girl by the way. She is an incredible mom and I am so blessed that she is in my circle of friends. Jackie is one of the most genuine people and gives some of the best advice, esp when it comes to kids. I appreciate her friendship so much. With all of our increasingly busy schedules, I am so grateful that we set aside time to get together and celebrate. This time it was margaritas, Mexican food and James Avery! Happy Birthday Jackie... love you to pieces and hope you had a wonderful birthday.<br />

The Houston rodeo is always so much fun and I get all excited to wear my cowboy boots. I posted our glimpse photo from that week as the boys looked on at the Ferris Wheel, but I have been so far behind in posts, that i never posted the photos from our rodeo day with the Domann family and the round-up activities at Liam's school. It seems every year we attend at least one of the concerts, but our schedules made this year's rodeo seem like a blink in time.<br />
<br />
I love seeing all the kids in their western gear. I get such a kick out of their pint-sized boots. This year we took Liam to Cavendars to choose his own boots. Bad Idea. His first choice were the red, roper pair which daddy was quick to veto! He finally settled on a pair of "ostrich" to be just like dad (don't worry, his were fake). He took them up to the lady at the counter and informed her that "Biam wear boots like daddy!" Luckily we have had lots of cowboy practice with the spring horse and cowboy hats we received at Christmas. The final touch were the boots and he was truly a cowboy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-77fYVmOvvG4/T61dmLsOE8I/AAAAAAAAGKs/t0tWepAunzQ/s1600/schoolrodeo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="354" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-77fYVmOvvG4/T61dmLsOE8I/AAAAAAAAGKs/t0tWepAunzQ/s640/schoolrodeo1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a>In Houston, we celebrate Go Texan day and everyone wears their best western gear. I sent plastic cowboy hats to the school and all of the kids loved them. Somehow I am not sure lime green hats with smiley faces scream cowboy, but sure didn't mind. That evening the school put on a celebration with a BBQ meal, petting zoo, games, and even pony rides! Liam loved riding the horse the very best, second only to chasing the crazy-haired duck in the petting zoo. We ended the evening with a marshmallow roast by the fire. It was the perfect evening.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gtPH8Hb7X3s/T61dnDjtnUI/AAAAAAAAGK0/kH3dPd6DFtY/s1600/schoolrodeo2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gtPH8Hb7X3s/T61dnDjtnUI/AAAAAAAAGK0/kH3dPd6DFtY/s640/schoolrodeo2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0nryIMAqxCQ/T61dorg1l7I/AAAAAAAAGK8/IZL6FatHsXY/s1600/schoolrodeo3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0nryIMAqxCQ/T61dorg1l7I/AAAAAAAAGK8/IZL6FatHsXY/s640/schoolrodeo3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
The day that we chose to take the boys to the rodeo, it was particularly crowded. Seas of people. But our little guys had a great time going through the maze to pick vegetables, milk the cow, dig through corn feed, and drive the tractors. It was a whole different play world for them now that they are two. Last year they were happy to simply run through the hay, but this year they actually participated in the activities which was really fun. (we missed you, Noah!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--cNTCtDD3kA/T61dg3xZT6I/AAAAAAAAGKM/x3lFSAa4y-Y/s1600/rodeo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--cNTCtDD3kA/T61dg3xZT6I/AAAAAAAAGKM/x3lFSAa4y-Y/s640/rodeo1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
We didn't do the fortune telling game this year, but we did stumble across a spin art booth and decided to take a break from the heat. The boys chose their colors and squeezed out the paint onto spinning white cards below. We may have used a bit too much paint on the first try, but in the end, they turned out really neat. They were pretty proud of their paintings.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uX7QfmVqwTc/T61dlNP33FI/AAAAAAAAGKk/2S1beUFwOmI/s1600/rodeo4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uX7QfmVqwTc/T61dlNP33FI/AAAAAAAAGKk/2S1beUFwOmI/s640/rodeo4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
And we couldn't leave the rodeo without riding a "horse" of course!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wgAGACwnB54/T61djc6ydKI/AAAAAAAAGKc/XmZ1lnBpcM4/s1600/rodeo3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wgAGACwnB54/T61djc6ydKI/AAAAAAAAGKc/XmZ1lnBpcM4/s640/rodeo3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
We had the best time with the Domann's. We are so grateful for their friendship and for being able to share in these experiences together. Until next year...<br />

One of fondest memories was the time that she helped our entire class make paper-mache pumpkins that then mildewed over the weekend because there was no air circulation. I remember how incredibly fun it was, but I am sure all my mom can remember is that dreadful smell permeating the classroom when we returned on Monday! Disaster or not, it will be a memory that stays with me a lifetime. <br />
<br />

Liam is getting to the age that we are able to do more activities and it thrills me! For Christmas we painted pottery mugs, we had several crafts like glitter train wheels for his birthday in January, there was crayon shaped hearts for Valentine's Day and then painting the egg-shaped chalkboards for Easter. But how can you have Easter without those colorful plastic cups and wire octagons? The ones so flimsy that you splash the dark green, vinegar water all over yourself because the egg is too heavy for the wire to hold. I bought a tie-dye Easter kit, but as you can tell from the photos... that was very unsuccessful.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
The classic colored cups were perfect and Liam was fascinated by the way the tablets changed the water colors and oohed and ahhhed when we pulled the white eggs from the cup and they all of the colors of the rainbow! I think he would have dyed eggs all afternoon. I know one thing is for sure, his GiGi is going to be very proud of his color wheel in the future. Ever since he was a tiny little thing, he has been a master of colors. Even grey, pink, and gold... most recently we were informed that his shirt was turquoise... But if you really think about it, it isn't surprising. With an artist for a grandmother, that is totally normal I think. It will be interesting to see if he is also left handed!</div>

Our neighborhood continued the traditional Easter egg hunt and the big hit was finding precious "gold" coins hidden inside the eggs. Liam was quick to remember how to hunt and went running to fill up his basket until of course he got a glimpse of the playground swing set... and that was the end of it. Unlike last year, Liam was not a fan of the man in the bunny suit. Sure, a thumbs up or a high five was fine.. but no way would he sit in his lap. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djF4Rh2MHSs/T6GopC0E5xI/AAAAAAAAGJc/TDPt8ePbxSE/s1600/easterneighborhoodparade.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" mea="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djF4Rh2MHSs/T6GopC0E5xI/AAAAAAAAGJc/TDPt8ePbxSE/s640/easterneighborhoodparade.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I still love our neighborhood. I love all the families and taking Liam down to the pond to feed the ducks. It has been a wonderful place to raise Liam. A small town feel in such a big city. We have recently started playing with the idea of moving... just talking about it. And I will say that it will be difficult to leave when the time comes. The way this market is working, it may be 2-3 years... haha... but still. </div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Next on the agenda was the school Easter parade in which we were to create an Easter "bonnet" for our children to wear. You are probably thinking the same thing that I did, which is how in the world I would create an Easter bonnet for my SON. Flowers and bunnies and lace ribbons would have gotten me in major trouble with the Mr. So, I pushed my cart up and down the aisle of Hobby Lobby trying to come up with something.. anything at all that would work. Feather boa? Green grass? nothing. So I decided to wonder over to the creepy aisles. You know those that have the doll heads in plastic and little toy furniture for houses? I got a few stares as if to warn me that I had taken the wrong turn and made it to the end where I hit the jackpot! Bumblebees and ladybugs and birds and nests... the perfect accessory for a manly bonnet! All hot-glued on an army hat just to ensure the proper approval. Some of the boy's moms were so creative and I wish I had gotten more photographs. Plastic eggs glued onto a cowboy hat - why didn't I think of that? And I kid you not this one little one had a hat made completely from those pom pom balls into the shape of a chicken. I never realized the competition was so fierce! </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
They all looked so precious carrying their flowers. Liam had a little trouble understanding that he had to give his flower to Jesus. And we may or may not have had a minor meltdown followed after by a covert operation "Steal back the flower from the cross." After a little explaining and a pouty lip, Liam finally agreed to let Jesus have his yellow daisy.</div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
The next weekend was really busy as my brother had just moved into a new apartment... further away (tear) and both sets of grandparents were in town. Liam isn't spoiled at all to receive three Easter baskets each with their own twists. I think it is fun to combine family traditions. Liam had his first solid chocolate bunny from Mea and Pop and went for the ears first. Gigi and Pappa brought some of our old favorites like the Gerdie ball and bath toys followed by a talking Thumper. I also have to thank Gigi for the catchable bubbles.. they are so cool, but leave this crazy plastic film behind on anything they "catch" whether that be your finger, your hair, or mommy's antique table!</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
On Sunday, the "Easter bunny" was so excited to assemble her basket of goodies for Bill and Liam. She gathers little items all season to create the perfect assortment and loves the challenge of finding smaller items that will fit into an egg. I get it from my mom. Every holiday was made so special for us. Every single one. Whether it be Valentine's or Halloween or Easter, there was always a project and always a special treat. I want Liam to have those same special memories. Unfortunately, daddy bunny was sick with a fever and tonsillitis that morning, but I still think he liked his basket of Toms, plaid summer shorts in 2 sizes smaller (way to go Bill) and eggs filled with Starbucks giftcards. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
As for Liam's basket, we may have gone a little overboard... wink! Learning Express had an amazing deal this year where you chose a bucket to fill and as long as you spent $25, they would give you a personalized bucket for free. I got these adorable eggs that spoke phrases like "Yoo Hoo... I am over here, "I'm hiding," and "You found me!" Then there were bubbles, a firetruck, stuffed bunny, Easter book, and so much more. I added the Melissa and Doug icecream set for his kitchen. Only $25... whoops... I found all sorts of things from the Cars movie to put into larger eggs and then stuffed egg-shaped sidewalk chalk into a few as well. The biggest hit was the Woody doll from Toy Story. Liam's friend Ella had given him Buzz for his birthday and it is one of his favorite toys so when I found Woody, I knew I had to save it for his basket. When he walked into the living room to see what the Easter bunny had left (yes dad, we rang the doorbell! another family tradition that I find hilarious... I mean, a bunny rings the doorbell?), Liam went straight for the Woody doll. The reaction I was hoping for! </div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
We ended our Easter Sunday with a perfect family lunch at grandmama Margaret's. And even though we were not able to attend the Easter service this year due to illness, we did not forget to the true meaning of Easter and to thank Him for our many blessings. He has Risen indeed. "God has done wonderful things for us and we are filled with joy!" Ps 126:3</div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"><b>An Easter Wink...</b></span></div>
<br />
Did you miss me? I know, I know... it has been forever since my last post and despite my new year's promise... I have failed miserably! I never thought job and new photography business and new photography blog and toddler and family illness and LIFE would get in the way so much? Okay, so maybe there are a few more things on my plate these days, but no excuse when it comes to documenting the family and I am so far behind, it is going to be hard to catch up... but catch up I will. I thought I would start with a little wink from Easter.<br />
<br />
When it comes to creating classroom treats for 2 year olds, you have to get creative. I will be ready when small objects and candy are no longer a concern, wink! Pinterest has been a great tool for me, like the Valentine heart crayons. This next one is a spin off of an idea of a friend's class and I was so excited! Thank you Ashley! I really try and get Liam involved whenever I can. I think it adds a personal touch and even though they may not be perfect, they have character and he is so proud of his work!<br />

We worked all day to create the most adorable egg-shaped chalkboard's for his entire class! Happy Easter friends!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TFbXwWnViw8/T54LutTbRYI/AAAAAAAAGI8/c1AthTkJW2c/s1600/easterproject3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TFbXwWnViw8/T54LutTbRYI/AAAAAAAAGI8/c1AthTkJW2c/s640/easterproject3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
What you will need:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Cardboard (I used squares, but you can use old shipping boxes as well)</li>
<li>Something round or Oval (this is to draw off your egg. I used a circle and just traced half of the circle and then finished off the top to create an oval)</li>
<li>scissors</li>
<li>chalkboard paint (I found pink and blue at Hobby Lobby for a fun feel!)</li>
<li>paint brush (the foam brushes work really well)</li>
<li>raffia or ribbon</li>
<li>clear bags</li>
<li>chalk</li>
</ul>
<div>
Trace each of your ovals and cut them out of cardboard. They paint two coats of chalkboard paint to cover the shape. Let dry. Assemble your chalkboard egg and piece of chalk into a clear plastic bag and tie it off for each friend. Honestly, I think these would be great for any holiday or birthday party! Let me know if you create some of your own!</div>Kate Robinsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05336255209399325322noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4738156553319041710.post-43791591021319659552012-03-16T18:08:00.000-05:002012-03-16T18:08:27.965-05:00Glimpses 11.5<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;">This week calls for a double dose of glimpses! And last tuesday evening, when a tree crash caused our entire neighborhood’s power to go out, they performed more than one heroic act of protecting a live wire. They left a huge imprint on one little boy’s world. Which made the 4 hours without power bearable. These men could have simply done the task their chief had assigned, but instead they took the time to show Liam what it takes to be a fireman. They let him drive the truck, sound the airhorn, listen to the siren, run the waterhose, fill back up with the hydrant, and even wear their hat. I cannot thank these incredible men enough for being so wonderful to my son. We were all worn out from working all day and the last thing we wanted was to come home to a power outage. Liam still talks about those firemen. They are famous in our house. It turned out to be an amazing night! Thank you so much to our neighborhood heros!</span><br />

Liam's Polar Express themed 2nd birthday turned out better than I could have dreamed it for him. These birthdays have grown legs and have certainly turned into productions, but to see the pure joy on his face made it all worth it!</span></span></div>

This week we dusted off our boots and kicked off the Rodeo season here in Houston, Texas. It is one of my favorite times of the year and I hope to gather a few glimpses of my little cowboy. Yee Haw! (Sorry for the grain, but when the lights go out... sometimes the Nikon D90 and moon just doesn't cut it.. come on D800)</div>

This week's glimpse into our life isn't perfection photography. The sharpness is off. But I love the movement and Liam had the best time. In fact, he is still talking about feeding those ducks and I am so glad that I live in a neighborhood where we can walk to feed the ducks. Even in this big city, there are pieces of a small town that are brought to life in our neighborhood.<br />

I have two amazing little 2 year old birthdays to post and I promise they are coming, but for now... let's talk about Nathan and Diana!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QcvcPCvmjj4/T0OaunN4YoI/AAAAAAAAGEA/p-oQf5niwkY/s1600/DSC_0012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QcvcPCvmjj4/T0OaunN4YoI/AAAAAAAAGEA/p-oQf5niwkY/s640/DSC_0012.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
This Saturday I had the privilege to host a His and Hers shower for a pretty incredible couple with such a fun story. As far as love stories go, this one is going to be well written. They just purchased their first home and are getting ready for their March wedding. We all brought items to help Nathan with his "Honey Do" list. They were twitterpated, gazing into each other's eyes over a toothbrush holder and bathroom trashcan. And what says love more than a leaf blower? yep... I think these crazy kids are going to make it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wDwZYE9sN7s/T0OcYG73UJI/AAAAAAAAGGE/lUq5RJ7izmk/s1600/honeydo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wDwZYE9sN7s/T0OcYG73UJI/AAAAAAAAGGE/lUq5RJ7izmk/s640/honeydo.jpg" width="600" /></a></div><br />
Diana and I met while both working on a similar project at Accenture. I believe it was her first project and I am pretty sure that... well, let's just say it might not have totally been what she expected for a first assignment. Through it all... we bonded. When the project dust settled, I actually took up permanent residence at Spectra and Diana moved on to another project, but then ended up following a journey back to Texas A&M to earn her MBA (these Doughty girls are brilliant). Would you believe that years later, I hear through the channels that Diana took a position at Spectra? We were meant to be colleagues! When I returned from maternity leave... like the day, Diana stopped by and we started to pick up where we left off. It was then that I learned that her sister, Carin had just given birth to a son who happens to be 5 days younger than our Liam. And if this world couldn't get any smaller, they were going to be in the same class at the same school. Today, I am not sure what I do without Carin... I feel like I have known her my entire life and certainly one of the top on my list of inspiring women in my life. Carin and Diana are both beautiful, successful, uplifting and such incredible friends. I am so blessed that our paths have criss-crossed! I could not be more excited for this family with a new baby on the way and a wedding right around the corner.<br />

Oh My Goodness... I am not kidding... I could hang out with these ladies all weekend. I felt like a bunch of little school girls. And we may or may not have caused a kitchen flood right before the party because we may or may not have left the water running to overflow a pitcher. If you ever want to go grab drinks ladies... I am in! I am laughing just thinking about these two!<br />

This means that Liam's best older bud is going to have a brother. He has been so incredible to Liam and he is going to be an awesome big brother. We had a late celebration dinner and these guys spent the rest of the evening mastering the ipad. The newest generation is being labeled Generation Alpha. Gen A is suspected to be the most formally educated generation in history. Because all of their toys are electronic and/or battery powered, it is no wonder they can navigate a computer or phone or in this case an ipad better than their parents. "These 'Google' kids are really being shaped in a world of technology and consumerism."<br />
